Pruning Guide
A central theme exists in arboriculture and this same theme is at the core of our work at Auckland Tree Services – care for trees. A tree is a living entity which presents a very practicle problem. Poor pruning practices can cause innumerable problems in the future which will cost you money and devalue your property - financially and aesthetically.
A knowledgable arborist should be able to create a synergy between your needs and the needs of your trees. A simple rule of thumb when it comes to pruning: less is more.
Radical (extreme) removal of branches and height of a tree will, in most cases, result in either:
1.
Rapidly increased regrowth (at exactly the point you did not want to see branches) or, on the other side,
2.
Eventual decline and death of the tree.
Removing / pruning while taking into consideration the health of the tree results in:
1. Restricting rampant regrowth and
2. Retaining the natural, graceful, artistic lines of the tree.
